Questions to ask your chosen therapist.

Contacting a Therapist.

When you contact a therapist it is important that you feel comfortable with that therapist and the surroundings in which you will be meeting and maybe receiving treatment in.  Feel free to take someone with you at the initial meeting, this will help allay any safety concerns and also two heads are better than one. A lot of information may be given to you at the first meeting so having someone with you helps to recall what has been said. Also make notes as memory joggers, and make sure you have all your questions prepared and ready. Don’t hesitate to ask additional questions, and follow your instincts!. Consider contacting more than one therapist to gauge how you were received, the level of information given etc. Generally if you feel more comfortable walking out than when you walked in the time has been well spent. Therapists work in different ways, even therapist in the same disciple may have differing methods, outlooks and attitudes. Remember you are seeking help and advice, you should feel that you have been listened too, and that you have had the time to express your concerns and needs. You should feel that the therapist understands your needs and has understood what you have said. The therapist should explain treatment, costs and other relevant information.
As a guide you should ask the questions below and any others relevant to your situation and circumstances. Remember you cannot self diagnose, and you should have your symptoms diagnosed as IBS before visiting a therapist.

Q: How long have you been practicing IBS hypnotherapy?

Q: Can you help IBS sufferers=, and if so how does your treatment help?

Q. What is your success rate with IBS?

Q: What is IBS? (see this site for explanation)

Q: How many sessions will it take?

Q: Where did you train, and for how long?

Q. How much will this cost?

Q: Do you receive an audio recording of the session? Most hypnotherapists will provide this, other therapies may give other at home instruction for you to work with in between sessions

Q: Do you have letters from past clients that I can see?

Q: Do you offer a pre-session consultation?

One question the hypnotherapist should absolutely ask you: have you been thoroughly examined and diagnosed with IBS by a medical doctor? If they don’t ask this, then ask why they didn’t!!

If you cannot find a therapist in your area consider the IBS Audio Program 100®
